We wrote it before: GeoNames is overloaded. GeoNames is trying to protect the server and decided to block all traffic on the webservice URL we use. Here is what they have to say:
We have temporarily removed the domain ws.geonames.org from the dns setting to protect the server from exessive use by an iPhone application. You can access the server with the domain ws5.geonames.org.
This means all older ZipCarton plugins stopped working as there is no one listening on the other side. This is why we release version 0.10 today. It doesn't include any new features but has a fallback mechanism: it looks for ws.geonames.org and if it does not get a satisfying result it switches to ws5.geonames.org. Call it an ‘emergency fix’ if you like.
What's in there for you? The new version will check the old webservice URL and fallback to the new URL if needed. This will result in a minor delay as long as the old URL is overloaded. As soon as the old URL is restored ZipCarton will work as it always has.
So please, everyone who has downloaded ZipCarton before, head over to the download page an upgrade to the new version.
