Both milkcarton guys switched jobs from their large company jobs to a little webdevelopment agency back in November. Why am I telling this you may ask? Well, in this new small office everyone is using Yammer. Yammer is Twitter for your company for those who don't know it yet. You post status updates, create lists and reply to others, just like you would on Twitter.
The new milkcarton application we are announcing today is called Pity and is a tiny Yammer notification app that lives in your Mac OS X menubar (on the top right that is). Once authenticated it asks Yammer every 70 seconds if someone posted a new message. If there are new messages the icon will change to show something is happening.
