GeoNames is back

Some good news on this Sunday morning! After a busy week full with new releases to cope with the GeoNames troubles we are happy to report things should be solved now!

Between January 19, 2009 and the GeoNames webservice, used by ZipCarton to find the matching postal code, was overloaded. A new popular iPhone app sent too many requests to the GeoNames service resulting in a DDoS attack. GeoNames reacted by opening a secondary, temporary URL for the service. This meant had to release a new ZipCarton version. Today the original URL was re-enabled brining everything back to it's original state.

A big thank you to marc from GeoNames for his hard work and great support!
